Organizational change can be physically and emotionally exhausting for employees. Change can
lead to unclear processes and chain-of-command. Unmanaged change can cause employee
anxiety and work stagnation, and worse yet intentional sabotage and other destructive behaviors.
This seminar uses research from human development theory, the psychology of personality and
communication theory to provide employees practical tools to survive during times of organizational
change. Drawing on organizational and change management researchers such as Kezar, Stapley,
Argyris, and Stacey, participants will learn how to recognize signs that they are moving into the
unstable zone, demonstrate Model II communication techniques, and design a good-enough
holding environment within their workplace.
Learning Objectives:
1) Understand common change management theories.
2) Understand what a “good enough” holding environment is and how to create it.
3) Employ some techniques of Model II communication in the workplace.
4) Implement strategies that use holding environment, Model II communication, and creative
destruction.
