    Malcohm Smith, Community Outreach Resources and Planning Specialist with the Wage and Hour Division of the US Department of Labor.  

    Malcohm will offer an informative presentation on Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) essentials.  The presentation will provide an overview of the FLSA to give you the knowledge to accurately administer payroll and FMLA policies.  In addition, our presenter will provide guidance regarding Break Time for Nursing Mothers.  Attendees will understand hours worked, break times, and employer requirements and provisions of the FLSA.

    Learning Objectives:

    Identify the four main provisions of the FLSA.

    Distinguish exempt and non-exempt workers

    Determine actual hours worked

    Identify some common practices that cause employers to be in violation of the Act

    Identify other laws enforced by the Wage and Hours Division

    Understand employer requirements under the Famliy Medical Leave Act

    Understand the investigative process.
