Employment screening has been an established business practice for more than 30 years. The process of acquiring job-relevant information about a candidate helps employers mitigate the risk of a poor hiring decision and protect their organization, employees, customers, and other stakeholders from violence, theft and other forms of harm.

New legislation is increasing that can limit an employer’s access to criminal records, and impede their use of such records by imposing burdensome and complex processes. Additionally, the cost of credentialing information such as employment verification or education verification have increased exponentially, and this challenges the value proposition associated with this information.

In this session we will review these impediments and discuss some alternative options that employers may want to consider.

Participants in this session will learn how to evaluate their current employment screening protocol in light of these developments, and determine if they should consider eliminating some practices, and potentially replace those practices with other techniques.
