This roundtable event will be based on the SHRM Together Forward @Work resources to confront workplace racial inequality.  

This discussion will use SHRM resources as a guide for the following topics:

- To create better workplaces, first we must improve the cultures that fuel them.

- The time for change is now, but HR can't do it alone.

- Hiring Bias and Workplace Bias

-Tips to start conversations around these topics

What is the foundation for great teams according to reseach by Google and Harvard Business School?  It's Psychological Safety.  These teams can allow for failure while holding the highest of standards.  They never hide from reality and thrive in candor.  It's a team that generates goodwill and energy.  Randal Weidenaar is a corporate culture expert, and he will unpack how to create psychologically safe teams in the workplace. 

Attendees will be able to ask questions and share best practices related to:

This presentation will describe the Opioid Crisis that Missouri is facing, what factors contributed to the crisis, and how the crisis impacts the workforce in Missouri.  The presentation will present basic information about why a person develops a substance abuse disorder and teh best approaches to treat the disorder.  It will also discuss what the State of Missouri is doing to fight the crisis and how each individual and employer can be a part of the solution.

Scott Breedlove, MS, CSP, MARS, is the MCB Assistant Director and will be our presenter. 

The annual holiday event celebrates the achievements of the NEMO SHRM chapter for 2019, as well as achievements of its members.  There will be opportunity to celebrate, network, and be developed.

This inspirational program will offer Human Resources professionals reminders of the importance of employees having joy in the workplace.  Patty Brawner, Vice-President of Nursing for Hannibal Regional Healthcare System, will share research and guidance that HR can use to influence their company's culture and guide leaders to do the same. 

With the minimum wage changes in both Missouri and Illinois, employers must determine their compensation strategy ass related to their market.

Tom Wardrip, CCP, is a Senior Consultat with Gallagher.  Tom will offer guidance to HR professionals on considering the market in addition to how to meet new minimum wage requirements and minimize wage compression on other employees.
